Description
To promote public awareness and action to protect the environment to ensure the wise use of natural
resources for sustainable development
The Portland Environment Protection Association (PEPA), was founded in June 1988 and is an association
of community organizations, service clubs and civic organizations, bound together by our
common interest to protect the natural environment of the parish of Portland specifically and the country
of Jamaica in general.
The Organization is listed in the International directory of Environmental Non-Government Organizations,
ENGO's.
PEPA came about through deep concern from citizens who were cognizant of the need to preserve the natural
environment and associated resources.
