It is dedicated to identifying factors affecting the environment, monitoring pollution and environmental degradation, dissemination of information relating to the environment to the public, encouraging community participation in environmental issues, liaising with relevant authorities on environmental issues and making remedial measures where the need arises.Society membership is open to any member of the public who shares the Society's vision of environmental protection and awareness. All members are volunteers. EPAS was initiated in 1998 by an interested group of people, who felt that something had to be done about the environmental degradation. It was started on completely nothing (in terms of finances) except the will to protect the environment. After a laborious process of registration, it was finally registered on 30th July 1999 as a Society. The Headquarters for EPAS is in Chingola, a mining town on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. EPAS does not yet have a website but you can email them |
